We were able to confirm that Simple Seo Url for ZenCart (SSU) works perfectly on IIS machine given that your server has some type of plugin that can help it to understand the rewrite rules which were written for Apache servers.

Hello,
I have a problem with Simple SEO Url. I have installed zencart 1.3.8a on a windows server 2008 x64, IIS version 7.5, php version 5.2.14 and also I have installed Helicon Ape for emulate the apache.
The Helicon Ape works fine, but on zencart with simple SEO url if you access every link will return a 404 page not found error.
Please can you advise me how to resolve this problem?

First, which 404 page you get? is it a zencart 404 page or is it your server’s normal 404 page?
If it’s your server’s 404 page, then some how the htaccess rules don’t kick it. Check with your host and the guys who support Helicon Ape to see if they can help.
If it’s the zencart’s 404 page, then you should check if your SSU is up to date. Which version of SSU you are using? Open the includes/classes/ssu/cores/link.php file, on line 23 do you see something like this:
